Your commercial cleaning service provider is your first line of defence against the pandemic for your business beyond the precautions now instituted concerning social distancing, hand-washing, and sanitation.

Covid-19 spreads person to person through tiny droplets associated with coughing and sneezing. The disease causes an array of flu-like symptoms respiratory issues and, in some instances, leads to death.

JDI Cleaning Systems is working to slow the spread of Covid-19; franchise owners and employees are dedicated to ensuring they:

  • Wash their hands often and thoroughly before entering and exiting a customer’s facility.
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Masks and gloves are safely removed and disposed of before exiting a customer’s facility.
  • Use colour-coded cloths and mop heads for their intended purpose or room to avoid cross-contamination and are not used across multiple properties.
  • Continue to use professional-grade tools, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Use government-approved disinfectants with an eight-digit DIN number.
  • Give special attention to high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, handles, push plates on doors, handrails, light switches, toilet, and faucet handles.

What Is the Difference Between Cleaning, Sanitizing and Disinfecting?

There’s much to know about the difference between the three. Read our full article ‘The Difference Between Cleaning, Sanitizing, and Disinfecting’

Cleaning physically removes germs, dirt and impurities from surfaces or objects. It involves using soap or detergent and water and a mechanical action such as wiping to remove germs from surfaces. Cleaning does not kill germs, but removing them lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.

Sanitizing lowers the number of germs on surfaces or objects to a safe level, as judged by public health standards or requirements. For a product to be considered a sanitizer, it must reduce bacteria on a surface by at least 99.9 percent.

Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces or objects. Chemicals need to be applied according to the label, as each product is different. Disinfecting does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but killing germs on a surface after cleaning, lowers the risk of spreading infection.

JDI’s Covid-19 – 2-Step Cleaning Process

Step 1 Routine 7-Step Cleaning is carried out as per duties and frequencies outlined in your current JDI contract under Cleaning Specifications.

Step 2 Each cleaning is followed by a sanitizing and disinfecting procedure, mainly focusing on the high touch point areas.

In consultation with JDI Cleaning Systems, customers must assess their cleaning specifications and frequencies to determine if changes are required to provide a safe workplace environment that will reduce the spread of Covid-19.

As an employer, what should you do if you suspect that an employee has contracted Covid-19?

  • Identify the specific area in your facility where the contaminated person works.
  • Reduce any further access to the contaminated area, including work areas of other employees within 15 feet
  • Increase air circulation with a floor fan while opening a window
  • On a map or floorplan of your facility, identify and highlight areas you feel have been contaminated.
  • Call JDI’s Regional Director assigned to your facility and let them know that you have a suspected case of Covid-19. If possible, forward a copy of the floorplan indicating the contaminated areas that require cleaning and disinfecting.
  • JDI’s Regional Director will schedule and coordinate the necessary remediation protocol.
